Old Norwich

Yesterday we headed into Norwich for the morning. Not the bit with all the chain shops and the Malls, but the other bit. The old bit. As we went to park we noticed their was a Fleamarket at St Andrews Hall. Shall we? Lets! I always love an unexpected surprise. We had good old rummage and came away with some embroidered hankerchiefs and pieces of lace.

We then headed down towards Elm Hill. On the way, we looked out for the concrete keyboard embedded in the pathway. It's a bit of a tradition to look for it when we around this part of town. I would love to know who did this.

After that, some Coffee was in order. My Husband took us to the Briton Arms where he has been before, but I hadn't. Man alive, I've been missing out! There Coffee is sooo good! I really love this building and as the Plaque on the Wall states "This is the only house in Elm Hill to escape the fire of 1507 and the cellars date from the 13th century. In the early 15th century it was a Beguinage, a community of lay single women who devoted themselves to a life of prayer and charitable work.". It was also the location for 'The Slaughtered Prince" Pub in the Film Stardust. Despite the slight chill in the air, we decided to sit outside. Their Garden is a wonder. Someone has put a lot of time, effort and love and it's so well planted. I can't wait to go back.

Post refreshments, we meandered down Elm Hill, went to Looses Emporium so my Husband could see their vast range of Cameras before heading up towards Tombland and into The Lanes. These wall stencils caught my eye and made me smile.

We got some lunch from Logans on Swan Lane! Tuna, Red Onion and Horseradish for me and Chicken Salad for the Boy. Love Logans. Then we went to a new to us shop Follies. It has a really good selection of Homewares, Jewellery and Clothing with a very boutique vintage feel.

All in all, it was a very very lovely morning. It was really nice rediscovering parts of Norwich that I love so much. Bumping into friends on the way. Taking photos and just enjoying the company of The Mr.

Right - that's next Saturday sorted out - lol! Follies looks lovely - and I must look out for that keyboard one day - how fascinating - perhaps it's the Norwich version of Banksy! Sounds like you had a lovely day.
